QUESTION
----------------------------------

What should I check when receiving error message "Database connection failed: Connection refused: connect (localhost:1433)"?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

Under the DBMS hostname section in the Administration, you should enter SEGUE\. Make sure that you are connecting to the correct remote or local machine.

If this does not help - the problem could be that you have specified a different port at setup to the default 1433. This can be resolved by entering the correct port number in the Port section of the Administration.

You could determine which port that you have used by opening a command prompt and using netstat -a This may reveal which port that sqlservr.exe is LISTENING from.
