Problem:

When attempting to download packages from SilkCentral Test Manager from the Manual Testing Client I encounter "OutOfMemoryError" exceptions. How do I resolve these errors?

Resolution:

The solution for the said error is to increase the Java heap size used by the Manual Testing Client which can be done quite simply through the modification of the Manual Testing Client shortcut. The shortcut is modified as follows:

  • Right click on your Manual Testing Client shortcut and select "Properties" from the context menu
  • In the "Target" field, you must append the following arguments: "-vmargs -Xmx256m"

If the above modification does not resolve the problem, try setting the heap size to a larger value e.g. "-Xmx512m".
