Why do I get a 401 Access denied / Unauthorized when adding / modifying a Issue Tracking profile

Resolution:

ANSWER
----------------------------------
This is caused by IIS using NTLM / Integrated Windows authentication. NTLM is not supported so please get your IIS administrator to disable this and enable anonymous access.

IIS Settings:

  • Right-click on Web Sites and chose Properties
  • Check Enable anonymous access
  • Uncheck Integrated Windows authentication

Ensure that the anonymous User exists and has not been disabled in Windows:

Start | Settings | control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management
