Why might the error "Cannot add issue" be generated when I try to add a new issue to SilkCentral Issue Manager from SilkCentral Test Manager?

Why might the error "Cannot add issue" be generated when I try to add a new issue to SilkCentral Issue Manager from SilkCentral Test Manager?

Problem:

Why might the error "Cannot add issue" be generated when I try to add a new issue to SilkCentral Issue Manager from SilkCentral Test Manager?

Resolution:

The password field in the "New Issue" dialog may appear to be pre-populated, containing as it does a series of stars (i.e. "*****"), but this is not actually the case, as internally it is still empty. So, although it looks as though a password has already been entered, this is not in fact the case, and if you press "OK" at this point, the message "Error: Cannot add issue" will be generated and displayed.

Note that the username which is used when entering the issue in SilkCentral Issue Manager is NOT the one which is specified in the profile, rather it is the one which is entered in the "New Issue" dialog. If you enter an issue but never enter your password in the corresponding field, the password field is empty and the "Cannot add issue" error will be thrown by SilkCentral Test Manager.
