Why when I use angled brackets in Test Description fields and import using the Office Import Tool is my Test Description field being truncated?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

Angle brackets "" can be used in Test Descriptions, as well as in any other description fields.

However when you import the Test Description fields using the Office Import tool, SilkCentral Test Manager will act as an HTML renderer and will execute the HTML code. Thus anything within the angled brackets will be considered as an HTML tag and will then be removed, hence truncating the Test Description.

In order to use the Office Import Tool to import Test Descriptions that contain angled brackets, you must use for " for ">".

For example, to display the following text in Test Description field:

You must have the following text in the relevant section in your document to be imported:

This ensures that the text is correctly encoded and the HTML will not be executed upon import into SilkCentral Test Manager.
