"Execution Server is already used by Application Server on host: machine name" error when trying to activate an execution server

"Execution Server is already used by Application Server on host: machine name" error when trying to activate an execution server

Problem:

Why do I receive an "Execution Server is already used by Application Server on host: machine name" error when I try to activate an execution server?

Resolution:

This error is raised if another SilkCentral application server has connected to the execution server. We can simply access the SilkCentral application server and release control of the execution server by de-activating it.

If the SilkCentral application server has been removed and is no longer accessible you will need to follow the steps below;

  1. Deactivate all Execution Servers and close down SilkCentralTest Manager
  2. Navigate to the following locations on the execution server and delete the"AgentBase" folder.

    On pre SilkCentral Test Manager 2009 releases the AgentBase folder is found at 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\Borland\SCC3X'

    On post SilkCentral 2009 releases using Windows XP or Window server 2003 the AgentBase folder is found at 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SilkCentral\'

    On post SilkCentral 2009 releases using Window 2008 or Windows 7 the AgentBase folder is found at 'C:\ProgramData\SilkCentral'

    To show hidden files and folders - Clickon "Tools" -> "Folder Options" ->"View" -> Click "Show hidden files andfolder"

This folder will be recreated automatically when you create a new execution server.
