Appending current date to parameter - key word driven test

Hi

I  have a keyword driven test that takes an input parameter, Can we pass the value to SILK4J test as dynamic value parameter as in {abc}+currentdate to make it unique everytime we run the test.

Thanks in advance

Hi @rekhasunkara1,

I don't know if the current date is possible, but what you can do is to use one of the dynamic predefined parameters:

https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/silk-central/206/en/silkcentral-help-en/GUID-C6C056AC-1550-43CF-82AD-EF70DE54C1DF.html

You chose for example #sctm_regular_execdef_run_id, which is different for every execution plan run.

Create in the test a custom parameter.

Tests > Properties > Parameters > Add Custom Parameter

Name: myparam

Value: ${abc}${#sctm_regular_execdef_run_id}

You can then use parameter myparam in your keywords as parameter then. You will get the values concatenated in the keyword.

You can find more about parameter replacement here:

https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/silk-central/206/en/silkcentral-help-en/SCTM-84713152-PARAMETERTOKENREPLACEMENT-CON.html

Regards,

Hubert

Thank you Hubert. Sounds like a neat option. I will try it out.
