Did any one integrated Silk central to Jira ?

What challenges did you face before integration?

 what are the best practices?

what are the challenges after integration ?

Hi,

I think you need to be more specific in your questions - e.g. issue tracking and/or requirements management, what challenges are you facing now and try to resolve with Jira, etc. - to receive some answers.

I don't know what specifics you are looking for, but we have integrated SILK with JIRA and use it extensively for all of our bug reporting. We do precision agriculture technology development so though we do have some automated smoke and regression testing testing, a significant amount of our system testing has to be done manually on various OEM machines that we integrate our products with.

Having the link between SILK and JIRA has significantly improved the communication between our test and development team and allowed the development team to get the details on how the system was configured when the bug occurred.

We did have a challenge in that initially our JIRA projects were all managed by separate groups, so we did go through the effort of creating a "standard" workflow scheme and issue screen schemes which improved our ability to manage connections and not have to trouble shoot problems with connections on a project by project basis.

Hi Vineeth,

Thanks for the update.

Have you had a look at the the integration currently, and are there any specific questions you have on this? As it may allow us to provide more specific answers to your questions.

As a general overview Silk Central will allow you to sync specific issue types from your JIRA installation and link these to a specific test case.

It will then allow you to see coverage of all those requirements in Silk Central. You can then integrate the issue tracking side as well and allow your testers to raise defects against test cases.

As Ellen has mentioned this can improve communication between testing and development at an earlier stage to ensure that they are both working on same problem.

Thanks,
Matthew
