SilkCentral install

Hi all,

We are able to install SIlkCentral version 17.

1) We know that the CPU requirement for SIlkCentral is (Intel Core i5 or better).  We currently have (Intel Xeon E5-2640 @2.60GHz).

2) We know that the minimum requirement for memory is 6GB.  Our machine has only 4gb, but we plan to have the database running in another machine.  We plan to only have the SilkCentral server running on the 4GB machine.

If we install the SilkCentral with the above configuration will it be fine?

Thank you,

Hi kkyy,

Technically, the configuration should work for the beginning. As long as the system is "empty" with low usage it will be ok. The question is what do you plan for the future? When the number of users, execution servers, tests, requirements, requirements integrations, issues, etc. increases or certain memory consuming operations are performed you will be forced to upgrade your hardware (especially the RAM) anyways.

Putting RAM in advance to that machine is rather cheap compared to the costs if a used system suffers from poor performance at a later time. So I'd recommend to increase the RAM.

Regards,

Hubert
