Citrix recording failure on Windows 7

Citrix recording failure on Windows 7

Citrix recording and replay should work out of the box on Windows 7 machines but we have seen some instances were a lack of permissions prevents the registry from being updated with the necessary key value pairs.

To resolve this:

  • Start | Run - type "regedit"
  • Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Citrix\ICA Client
  • Create a new key: CCM
  • Under CCM, create a new DWORD value: AllowSimulationAPI
  • Set the value = 1
  • HKLM\Software\Citrix\ICA Client\CCM\AllowSimulationAPI(REG_DWORD)=1

On 64 bit machines this path is at:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\CCM]

"AllowSimulationAPI"=dword:00000001

Please note, changes to the registry can cause irreversible damage to the Windows system and are done at customers own risk. This should not be attempted unless you are confident about doing so.
