How can I install SilkPerformer 6.5 on Windows XP?

SilkPerformer 6.5 can be installed on both Windows XP and Windows XP SP1.

We do recommend that you have Windows XP SP1 installed. If you need to install SilkPerformer on a copy of Windows XP that does not have SP1 installed, you will need to change the SilkPerformer SETUPLAUNCHER.INI to stop the installer looking for the service pack during installation.

To make these changes:

SilkPerformer 6.5 downloaded version

  • Extract all files to a temp directory and locate setuplauncher.ini.
  • Open it and search for "SP_WINXP=1".
  • Change this line to "SP_WINXP=0"
  • Save your changes
  • Run the Setup.exe

SilkPerformer 6.5 CD-ROM

  • Copy all files to a temp directory and locate setuplauncher.ini.
  • Open it and search for "SP_WINXP=1".
  • Change this line to "SP_WINXP=0"
  • Save your changes
  • Run the Setup.exe from the temp directory

If you still experience problems installing 6.5 then contact Support. This has been fixed in SilkPerformer 6.5.1.
