How do I change the Importance of an email when testing SMTP?

There are 3 SMTP headers which are linked to the Importance or Priority of an Email being sent via SMTP. These are:

  • Importance: A hint from the originator to the recipients about how important a message is
  • X-MSMail-Priority: Yet another priority indication, nonstandard, appears in Usenet articles sent by Outlook Express
  • X-Priority: Priority for message delivery, Eudora Pro Macintosh User Manual, Qualcomm Inc., 1988-1995

The main option that needs to be set for High Importance is "Importance", as this sets the actual message importance - the other two options are specific to Outlook and Eudora however as a matter of best practice can be set i.e.

"X-Priority: 1 (High)\r\n"
"X-MSMail-Priority: High\r\n"
"Importance: High\r\n"
