Is it possible to record ODBC traffic against SQL Server 2005?

When attempting to record ODBC traffic against Microsoft SQLServer 2005 you will find that the SQL Server Management Studio that is bundled with SQL Server 2005 does not produce ODBC traffic.

The following knowledge base article explains this:

Does SilkPerformer support the ODBC recording of a SQL query executed in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio?

Therefore in order to generate an ODBC BDF script in SilkPerformer which can executed against SQL Server 2005 you will need to either manually create an ODBC BDF script or alternatively use an ODBC client to record against.

The Client tools bundled with SQL Server 2000 contain a program called Query Analyzer which can be utilized to connect to SQLServer 2005. You will be required to create an application profile for this executable before the Silk Performer recorder will pick up any traffic generated between the Client and SQL Server 2005.
