SilkPerformer recorder crashes with the error "perfrun.exe Application Error The instruction at "0x6c163026.."."

When trying to record against a Web based application using SilkPerformer, an isolated incident has occurred in which the SilkPerformer Recorder crashed and reported the following error:

"PerfRec.exe - Application Error “The instruction at “0x6c163026” referenced memory at “0x00000004”. The memory could not be “read”.

In this instance the cause of the problem lay with a security application (anti-virus software) which was modifying the TCP/IP stack and subsequently caused the SilkPerformer Recorder to crash. The Operating System was Windows XP and the issue was resolved by implementing the following steps.

1) Open a dos command window.

2) type: "netsh winsock reset" and hit Enter (in order to reset the TCP/IP stack)

3) Reboot your machine.
