When I re-open a .NET file why do I get the error "File may be corrupt or of different type"

This error can be caused by the version of .NET Framework being used by .NET Explorer. If the component being tested was developed using version 1.0 of the framework, and .NET Explorer is using version 1.1 then you may see the error below when re-opening your project:


 

To change this behavior install/use the correct version of the framework. 

You can configure .NET Explorer to use a specific version of the framework in

TOOLS | RUNTIME SETTINGS
