Why Do I get the error "Reason: XML: 4 - Unexpected document" when trying to use my recording rule?

Why Do I get the error "Reason: XML: 4 - Unexpected document" when trying to use my recording rule?

When using recording rules you need to ensure that Silk Performer recorder knows where to get the rule and how to use its functionality otherwise the above error will occur. To locate the rule we need to create a Documents subfolder in the projects working directory:
Example:

C:\Users\MyUser\Documents\Silk Performer 15.5\Projects\Project1\Documents

Alternatively, for Global recording rules (which can be accessed by all projects) in Silk Performers Include directory:

C:\Users\ MyUser \Documents\Silk Performer 15.5\RecordingRules

If we have the recording rule successfully named and with the correct syntax we will see similar to the following in the log file:

Reading rule file "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Silk Performer 15.5\RecordingRules\No AddUrl.xrl"
 + Rule set "No AddURL"

For more information on creating and working with recording rules, please see the ‘Configuring Recording Rules’ section of Silk Performer Help.
