Why do I encounter the error "StInitSession(GUI-Level Testing Replay: 10 - Virtual user information, SilkTest Connection timeout reached)" during a loadtest?..

UPDATE:  This has been fixed in Silk Performer 9.5 HotFix 3 which means the interactive login no longer needs disabled and the data contained below will not be relevant.  Please upgrade to this or a later version.

This error can be reported if the agent machine has the Windows Interactive Logon feature enabled. This security setting specifies a text message that is displayed to users when they log on and is often used for legal reasons, e.g. to warn users about the ramifications of misusing company information or to warn them that their actions may be audited.

The login to the machine does not complete unless this dialog is dismissed and, as there is no provision for performing this action, SilkTest is not launched within the default timeout period of 50 seconds and the StInitSession(GUI-Level Testing Replay: 10 - Virtual user information, SilkTest Connection Timeout reached) error is generated. To resolve the error the Interactive Logon feature must be disabled. This setting can be found at:

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS | LOCAL SECURITY POLICY

Then expand:LOCAL POLICIES | SECURITY OPTIONS

Here you can find the Interactive Logon options; please ensure they are configured as shown below:

Interactive logon options

They should also be disabled in the registry

under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon LegalNoticeCaption and LegalNoticeText keys

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System should be blank.
