Why do I see an error reporting ‘MSVCP71.DLL’ is missing when trying to open SilkMeter?
To resolve this error it is necessary to manually copy 'MSVCP71.DLL' from another windows machine to the 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64' folder on the problematic machine. If this file is not present on another machine you can download the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. The 'MSVCP71.dll' is part of this package, so with the installation of the Redistributable Package the issue should be resolved.
You should also check for the presence of the 'MSVCR71.DLL' in the 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64'; if it's missing it should also be copied.
If the files are already present in the 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64' folder, or the error remains after copying them to this location, the same files should then be copied into the SilkMeter bin folder ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\SilkMeter\bin' by default).
