Why do I see the error "Silk Performer Recorder Spy DLL - Could not connect to host localhost on port 19105"?

Why do I see the error "Silk Performer Recorder Spy DLL - Could not connect to host localhost on port 19105"?

This is usually the result of a redundant hook left behind by a previous recording.

The following steps will help to resolve this:

  1. Open your Silk Performer project
  2. Open the recorder by going to RECORD | RECORDER
  3. Close the Recorder again without taking any actions.
  4. Close Silk Performer Workbench and attempt to open the application again.

If you have more than one version of Silk Performer installed on your machine, you may have to repeat the above steps for each version.

It is also possible to remove the redundant hook information manually from the extend.ini file which can be found in the Silk Performer installation folder.

The file should contain only the information outlined below:

// BEGIN extend.ini header
// (do not delete these header lines)
// END extend.ini header

Remove anything else which appears in this file (ensuring Silk Performer is closed), including any white space, and save the file.

Note:  You should always close the application before stopping the Silk Performer Recorder, which will prevent this from reoccurring.

Most of the time if the above does not work, create a brand new project in the SP install version that is giving the problem and then repeat the process of  clicking on "Record | Recorder" and then stopping the recorder and closing it without actually doing any recording.
