BDLT scripts and agent machines

Jump to solution

I am using BDLT scripts as they seem to need much less tweaking, and seem to recall being told by support that around 35 users would be the ceiling for an agent machine.  I have some higher powered machines that will take up to 50 vu's due to their additional RAM and CPU horsepower.

On the lower end machines, which should probably have only 35 vu's, the workbench still does not automatically assign another agent until it hits 50 vu's ... isn't the workbench supposed to dynamically handle this based upon memory/cpu availability?

Or does one need to go through and control this all by hand?

Thanks in  advance

Please note the control for "Agent resource utilisation" in the agent assignment tab. If your agents have a total capacity of e.g. 2000 BDLT VUsers, and you need only 200 for your test, set the control to 10% utilisation. That way the load should be distributed smartly across all available agents.

Alternatively, if you enable "Even user distribution", all agents will be used equally (but won't take into account, that your "big" agents could handle a bigger share of the load).

Hi Steve

The automatic assignment only roles over to agent B when agent A has reached the limit of its capacity based on the capability of the agent.  If you look at the agent assignment tab of the Workflow configuration you should see the Browser-Driven capability of your agent.  Its only when this number is reached that another agent will be used.

The agent capability calculation is a rough estimate which is why we usually recommend not trying to push your agent to these numbers.  If you bring down the agent resource utilization number then it will reduce the number of users that Silkperformer thinks the agent can support and thus another agent should be used.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
