Silk Performer with SSH

I am trying to use Silk Performer to record a Putty session over SSH. Unfortunately, all that SP sees is the encrypted traffic between Putty and my Linux server. Due to security constraints, only SSH can be used to connect to the Linux server. Is there a way to record the Putty session over SSH?

RE: Silk Performer with SSH

The system to be monitored via Secure Shell must be running a Secure Shell daemon.
To verify that the daemon is running you can telnet into the system, run the command ps -ef | grep ssh and check for a running sshd.
Also, make sure the user used for monitoring via Secure Shell is allowed to log on multiple times.

Best Regards,

What is your final goal? Are you trying to load test a SSH server?

By looking at the project types that are offered when creating a new project and also searching the help file: There are no "native" SSH functions. Also for SSH monitoring Silk Performer just uses external command execution (functions ProcessInitialize, ProcessStart, ProcessFree).

Internally, Silk Performer uses "plink.exe" (from the putty SSH client suite) to execute shell commands on remote servers over a SSH connection. You should have the following files underneath your "<Silk_Performer_install_dir>\Monitors\" directory: vmstat (ssh).sep, SSH.sep, vmstat (PuTTY Session).sep (SP v18.0). Copy one to your project directory, rename it to .zip, decompress all files to a new sub directory (including directory structure) and open the contained .ltp - load test project file - in Silk Performer. You could re-use this code as base for your own SSH server load test project.
