How can I set a Recovery System (default base state) which will navigate to the URL that you wish to test when using the SilkTest Open Agent?

How can I set a Recovery System (default base state) which will navigate to the URL that you wish to test when using the SilkTest Open Agent?

The SilkTest Open Agent does not work in the same manner as the older Classic Agent during the process of setting a “Recovery System”.

  • The SilkTest Open Agent Set Recovery System: works by launching the process which is responsible for the application.
  • The SilkTest Classic Agent Set Recovery System: works by querying the actual browser which has been enabled for the URL.

Therefore when you “Set Recovery System” for IE using the Open Agent you will see the following code pasted into your frame (.inc) file

[-] window BrowserApplication InternetExplorer
[+] multitag TAG_IS_OPEN_AGENT
[ ] "InternetExplorer"
[ ] const sDir = "C:\Documents and Settings\Jlyttle\Desktop"
[ ]
[ ] // The command line used to invoke the application
[ ] const sCmdLine = """C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"" "

As you can see the command for invoking the application, just contains the command for launching IE it does not contain the actual URL to the Web Application that you wish to test.

To add the URL to the command line you can manually add it, as show below (noting that additional double quotes have been added at the start and end of the command line)

[ ] const wMainWindow = InternetExplorer
[ ]
[-] window BrowserApplication InternetExplorer
[-] multitag TAG_IS_OPEN_AGENT
[ ] "InternetExplorer"
[ ] const sDir = "C:\Documents and Settings\Jlyttle\Desktop"
[ ]
[ ] // The command line used to invoke the application
[ ] const sCmdLine = """C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"" http://www.borland.com/flex"

Or you can do the following:

1) Right click on IE in the task bar and selected Properties

2) Append the URL to the target as shown below

3) Press apply
4) Restart the browser and select “Set Recovery system” and you will now see the URL appended to the command line
5) Press OK and the full command line will be added to the SilkTest include file
