How can one use SilkTest to compare two postscript files?

A Postscript file (*.ps) is a file created by printing a page layout to a disk file rather than printing directly to a PostScript laser printer.

They could be compared within Silk Test via one of the following:

  • The SYS_CompareBinary function - This function performs a binary comparison on two files and returns TRUE if the files are the same, and FALSE if not.

  • Parsing both files: You can create a function that takes both files and parses through each file and compares each file character by character - This may involve a bit of effort, but it would be more useful if you want to set a tolerance to deal with a set number of characters that you know will be different - such as a time or date.
