How does SilkTest determine the Window ID for html controls?

The Window ID for html controls is generally determined by using either the "name" or "id" attribute specified in the DOM for a said control. On further inspection we find that a pattern for the html attribute used for determining the Window ID appears, for html form controls the "name" attribute is used and for non-form controls the "id" attribute is used.

Form controls are those which are generally coded as follows:

Non-form controls can range from table structures to heading structures, for example:

Some Text

In the above example the Window ID for the HtmlHeading control would be "$Heading".

The one exception to the rule is the HtmlLink control. In this instance the Window ID for the control can either be taken from the "name" attribute or the "href" attribute.
