Is there any alternative to adding a comment to a SilkTest testplan results file other than through the "comment" keyword?

Is there any alternative to adding a comment to a SilkTest testplan results file other than through the "comment" keyword?

Yes, there is an alternative which is outlined below:

  1. Add an optional string argument to any testcase (see below) where you would like to specify such a comment and print this.
  2. In the testplan specify some testdata in the testplan section of your choice.
  3. On the results end it will print the comment you want, but if it is not specified you will see NULL returned.

TestPlan.pln

[-] Test Description
                [ ] script: testscript1.t
    [ ] testcase: test1
[ ] $sData = "This is a comment that is set through a testdata variable"
    [ ] testdata: $sData
    [-] another Test Description
    [ ] script: testscript1.t
    [ ] testcase: test1

testscript1.t

[-] testcase test1 (string sData optional)
    [ ] print ( sData)
    [ ] print ("HI")
    [ ] LogError ("error")
