Problem replacing data values with wildcard characters, when using the StrTran function.

Problem replacing data values with wildcard characters, when using the StrTran function.

StrTran function searches for and replaces characters in a string.

Syntax: sChanged = StrTran (sOrig, sSearch, sReplace)

StrTran interprets literally whatever you put into the sSearch parameter of the function, so if for example you wished to remove the HTML tagging from a data string, you might expect that entering "" for sSearch would find every string that started with a LesserThan symbol "". However, StrTran interpets the search string literally and does not treat the asterisk as a wildcard.
