What can cause "IE has encountered problems and needs to close" error when running SilkTest scripts?
One possibility when this can occur is if you have the Microsoft Security Patch KB918899 installed for Windows 2003 Sp1 / XP Sp2.
To check if you have this installed go to - Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs. Ensure that you have "Show Updates" checked as below:
In the image above you will notice that the security patch is not installed. This is because it has been removed so that we no longer get the "IE has encountered problems and needs to close" error message. You will need to remove this patch to resolve this issue on your machine.
