Why are the results of tests ran from a TestPlan not matching the test descriptions in the Results file?

Why are the results of tests ran from a TestPlan not matching the test descriptions in the Results file?

The assumption is that each test in a Testplan is unique by one of four items :

  1. Test Description source line
  2. TestCase
  3. TestData
  4. Full path of script file.

SilkTest uses the TestId which is a check sum of the four items above to retrieve the location of the test within the source file (Testplan or script).

So if some tests in a Testplan contain the same 4 criteria mentioned above, SilkTest will see the tests as being identical. The first one in the source file will then be the one showing in the Results file.

One of these four parameters must be unique to provide an exact match for location.
