Why do I get an error message "unexpected null value" when testing SQL?

If you have null values in your database then it is up to you to handle it in your SQL statement or to modify the database. Otherwise, you will receive errors like the one above. An example to get around this is to use ISNULL in your code.

An example of this is as follows:

hstmnt = DB_ExecuteSql (hdbc, "select c.customerid, c.name as lastname, c.firstname, ISNULL(p.email,"") from customer c where c.customerid in (select customerid from customer_details) ")

In the above example email is an optional field entry.
