Assertion Error in TestPartner after installation

Assertion Error in TestPartner after installation

I am receiving a TestPartner Assertion Error after installing the product. The typical Error message is:

"Assertion Error process: c:\program files\compuware\testpartner\testpartner.exe module: TPSvcVba file: E:\Taipei\Build\TPSvcVba\CVbaIntegration.cpp(1351)exception code: 1"

This error is then followed by a second error message:

"Runtime Error! Program: c:\program files\compuware\testpartner\testpartner.exe abnormal program termination"

To resolve this, first make sure VBA is installed correctly. There are two ways to fix this specific error.
  1. It is fairly common when you get this error, that the VBA modules necessary for TestPartner to run were not installed correctly. This can be the result of system configuration issues, installer hiccups, and various other things. If this is the case, uninstall TestPartner using Add/Remove Programs on the control panel. Then make sure to clean out the Registry. Go to Start/Run type in regedit then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software and HKEY_local_machine/software and remove any folders referencing TestPartner.
  2. Go into Setup\TestPartner\VBA and run the vba6.msi file to assure that it is properly installed. If it is NT 4 and it asks you what you want to open it with, you need Windows Installer. Go into the msi directory and run the installer that ends in 'w' (for wide character/NT/Unicode). Then run the VBA6 install.
