Problem:

When stopping a StarTeam server the status of the Server in the administration GUI never shows a "stopped" status.

Resolution:

In almost all cases this is caused by the "starteam-server-configs.xml" failing to update correctly and change the status to indicate that the server has stopped.
  1. Browse to the install folder for the StarTeam server, for example, "C:\Program Files\Borland\Starteam 2009 R2\"
  2. Open the "starteam-server-configs.xml" file
  3. Change the Status option to show that the configuration is "Ready"

    ‹OPTION name="Status" value="Ready" /›
  4. Restart the Star Team Server Admin application
  5. Restart the Server
If the StarTeam configuration is running as a service

  1. Browse to the install folder for the StarTeam server, for example, "C:\Program Files\Borland\Starteam 2009 R2\"
  2. Open the "starteam-server-configs.xml" file
  3. Change the Status option to show that the configuration is "Ready"

    ‹OPTION name="Status" value="Ready" /›
  4. Open Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
  5. Locate the StarTeam Server Service
  6. Click Restart to start service

If the service does not restart then remove the service and carry out the steps 1-3 above.  The service can be added once the configuration has started successfully.
