VCM Merge Types

VCM Merge Types

Rebase: Propagating changes from a parent view to an immediate child view.

  • Allow an activity view to catch-up with new changes from its parent (rebase)

Promote: Propagating changes from a child view to its immediate parent.

  • Deliver a completed activity to its parent (promote)

Replicate: Propagating changes from any one view to any other view in the same project.

  • Duplicate a fix/enhancement to one or more release views (replicate)
  • Compared to rebase and promote, replicate is the “wild card” merge type that allows changes to be propagated anywhere in the same project.
