Attachments no longer showing after upgrade

We recently upgraded from StarTeam 2009 to StarTeam 13 and have now noticed that the attachments we had on Change Requests are no longer showing up in the new GUI.  They appear to still reside in the repository and the DB.

I noticed that new attachments can be viewed in syn_Changes_Att.
But the older existing ones were in syn_Changes_Attachments.

Why the change?  And why does the new GUI not show the older records.  Did we miss something in performing the upgrade?

This is a big issue since we cannot get to our files without having to go back to the older 2009 GUI.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Actually we had a  PC that still had the 2009 GUI and it looks like we can no longer view the attachments from there either...  So were the underlying tables changed?

This is bad...

How do we get to our files?

what version of the client are you on? I think this was a reported bug that has since been fixed.

Can you please upgrade to the latest patch release, CPC build 13.0.1.24, SDK build 13.0.1.22 ?

Hello

The 12.0 + servers now put the attachments into the vault.

So I would imagine that during the upgrade you may have had a path conflict that resulted in your other attachments from maybe not being processed.

Pease send us the upgrade log for review

We tried the Update 1 Hotfix 6 download, which was CPC build 13.0.1.22 - the only update we see on the customer support site.  This did not resolve the issue.

Looking at the logs, the upgrade seemed to be successful.  For all attachment groups we got:

"Moved 500 attachments to vault for component 'Changes' successfully"

in 500 increments

And "All Attachments were moved over to vault storage successfully."

Any other ideas?

Can you log a support incident so we can investigate this further and include the upgrade log.

Let me explain some scenarios under which this is possible

1) The database and vault was restored on a new machine.

2) A test configuration was set up pointing to this newly restored database and the vault

3) Upgrade was performed against this database

4) Database connection credentials for the production database were changed to point to this converted database or the upgraded database was restored on current production database machine and Prod ST Server was repointed to this restored database.

In other words, the database and vault were upgraded together but only the upgraded database was used in production.

In this upgrade, we move the attachments from the OS directories to the vault. This helps us with keeping all the content in the vault and vault becomes the single source of truth for all the content including files, attachments and any UDAs you create using the newly inrtroduced content property.

Can you run vault verify asap . This will prove this theory.

Was this problem ever resolved as we are also in the process of upgrading from 12.5 to latest 13.0.1.14 server but also moving server to new 64 OS Windows 2008. I would like to know if all these upgrade / migration problems were resolved.

Hi Marc,

As you are already on Server 12.5, the attachments will have already been moved to your vault (this will have happened passing through / upgrading to 12.0), so this part should not affect your upgrade from 12.5.

And just to confirm, this upgrade issue has been resolved in the latest StarTeam Server 13.0 Hotfix, for all other users upgrading from pre-12.0 versions.

Hi Marc,

There was one known bug in the upgrade which caused the attachments to go missing. This was resolved in the 13.0 Update 1 hotfix. Please use the latest Hot fix for this release.

In case you are moving machines, please make sure you are copying the attachments directory and verifying the attachments are available to the server.

If the attachment directory path is set incorrectly, upgrade will not be able to find these attachments. All these errors will be logged in the upgrade log.
