Error: Attempt to communicate with the NSM engine failed

I have 38 NetWare 6.5 SP5 servers at 35 locations. I would guess we have in
the neighborhood of 30,000 objects in our tree. I have the Storage Manager
2.0 loaded on a server on my local LAN. This server has all the master
replicas for the entire tree. I occassionally get an error message saying
"Attempt to communicate with the NSM engine failed." Sometimes it happens
when I am browsing the Storage Manager Policies and the top O and OUs will
appear. However when I click to browse deeper into the tree, I receive the
error message. Usually, I have to close out of Storage Manager and
reconnect, but not always. Sometimes, I can close out of the browsing
"Select Object" window and then "Browse" again.

Does anyone know why I get this error?
