Reset Members of Collaborative Storage

Hi,

Sometimes Storage Manager doesn't pick up changes of group membership from eDirectory. Whilst I can use "Apply Members" to create storage for members that have been added to a group, is there a function I can use to take away storage from those that have been removed from the group??

Cheers,

Anthony

Anthony,

Unfortunately, we only remove individual members' -member- collaborative
storage folders and -member- rights if NSM processes a collaborative
storage "Remove Member" event. There is no management action which
manually does this -- as you said, "Apply Members" is additive only. One
of NSM's design goals is to absolutely prevent loss of data, and thus
we're forced to "play it safe" with the Apply Members action.

The fact that your event monitor isn't detecting all group membership
changes is interesting. Do you have an event monitor for each replica in
your tree? Or are you only using one event monitor?

Re: Reset Members of Collaborative Storage

We only have one event monitor.

If I manually remove members from a group using iManager, NSM picks up the event fine. However we have IDM managing these groups, and it's when removals happen via IDM that removals are sometimes missed.

And I've just had an occurance of an IDM "add" to a group that NSM hasn't picked up...

Anthony,

We recommend at least two Event Monitors for eDirectory per partition
monitored by NSM. Are your group objects in a different partition from
your user objects? If so, you'll want one set of Event Monitor services
monitoring one partition and another set monitoring the second.

Re: Reset Members of Collaborative Storage

Thanks for the info, I've just added another Event Monitor. Both my groups and users are in the same partition.

I'll see how it goes...

Re: Reset Members of Collaborative Storage

FYI, we've been much more reliable in running two event monitors. No events missed so far... 🙂
