How to upgrade agent 8.51 to latest 11.1x

Jump to solution

Dear Experts,

My customer has an important on-going project to upgrade OMU 8.29 to OMU 9.1x. I know that is a little bit late :). A raised question is, they have a lot of agent on Solaris are still at version 8.51.

When these Solaris nodes move to new OMU 9.1x, they need to be upgrade to latest OA 11.1x.

As this will be a massive movement, my customer needs help to confirm the upgrade patch.

Currently understanding is

from 8.51 --> 8.60.501 --> 11.0x --> 11.1x? or

from 8.51 --> 8.60.501 --> 11.1x?

We are worry about this is because an quixy document - QCCR1A116503 points out that 'Unable to upgrade 8.5x OM agents directly to new OM 8.60.501 release'. Is this doc out of date?

Any comments or input are very appreciated!
Thanks a lot,

Re: How to upgrade agent 8.51 to latest 11.1x

Hi SeanLiAUS,

I managed to upgrade from HP Operations Agent 8.51 to 8.60.006 (didn't try 8.60.501 patch/upgrade) then from 8.60.006 to 11.0x and 11.1x versions.

In this case I have tried:

8.51 to 8.60.006 to 11.00 (then patch to 11.02, 11.03, 11.04 & 11.05).

8.60.006 straight to 11.11 (then patch to 11.12 or 11.13).

On Solaris 10 node(s) went from 8.60.006 straight to 11.11 (this then auto-patched to 11.12 and 11.13 -> depending on which patch you have installed on the management server).

This worked without issues deploying from the management server.

I believe HP Operations Manager Linux/UNIX 9.10 had the HP Operations Agent 8.60.006 base.

Keep it at this then perform a deployment. Then once this has been done perform an agent upgrade to 11.1x
