Minor disk space alert is updated as Critical alert

Jump to solution

Hi Community,

We have a situation wherein we received one Minor alert for Disk space utilization 2 months ago and a ticket was created using Remspi integration, today disk space is 100% but there is no critical alert generated however the same minor alert was updated with message text that "File system D:\ drive is 100 % now.

In this scenario there should be an another Critical alert generated today when disk space is reached to 100% .

One more thing to be highlighted is alert duplicated 2000 times.

Regards,

Amrita

The namespace [opc] indicates it is a server configuration.   Therefore you'd have to execut something like:

ovconfchg -ovrg server -ns opc -set OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_MSGTEXT LAST_MESSAGE

It sounds like the disk space messages are being identified as duplicates based on the message key.  You may consider setting

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_MSGTEXT=LAST_MESSAGE

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_SEVERITY=LAST_MESSAGE

to force the duplicate message to be updated with the severity and message text of the last duplicate received.  Or you could implement a state based browser approach by leveraging the MSGKEY and MSGKEYRELATION ACK patterns in your conditions.   The Concepts Guide has a good discussion on "Strategies for Optimal Message Filtering" describing how this could be used.

What RRS said.

You want your thresholds for each of your Warning, Minor, Major and Critical levels to have their own message key, and to ack any of the other threshold keys. This will give you a state based event flow. OM will only trigger the Trouble Ticket interface for a new message, not a duplicate. so even setting the :

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_MSGTEXT=LAST_MESSAGE

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_SEVERITY=LAST_MESSAGE

wont trigger a new INC if the message is still counted as a duplicate.

Hi RRS and

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_MSGTEXT=LAST_MESSAGE

[opc]:OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_SEVERITY=LAST_MESSAGE.

Hi RRS,

Thank you.

This needs to be executed on Management server, but -ovrg is used in case of HA cluster resource group, do i need to run this on manual failover?

Also does this require any kind of reboot for configurations to take effect ?

Hi Community\RRS,

Please answer below queries for given configuration changes.

ovconfchg -ovrg server -ns opc -set OPC_UPDATE_DUPLICATED_MSGTEXT LAST_MESSAGE

This needs to be executed on Management server, but -ovrg is used in case of HA cluster resource group, do i need to run this on manual failover also?

Also does this require any kind of reboot or agent restart for configurations to take effect ?

Amrita,

"-ovrg server" is not referring to an HA Resource Group, but to the management server's configuration space.

the command needs to be run on the management server and there is no need for a reboot.  Note that it will only impact new duplicate messages.
