OPC_NODE_NAME value changes automatically in ovconf file

Hi All,

I have been experiencing some issues with quite some nodes, not being able to add the correct entry on the opc nodename line on the ovconf file.

I have added the correct fqdn of the server in OPC_NODE_NAME but it changes automatically to the backup server name.

I read in some HP forums, about this issue, and added the following line.

OPC_NAMESRV_LOCAL_NAME=<FQDN> But no Luck

The policy owner updated me that "when <$MSG_NODE_NAME> is used in a variable of any policy condition it will return the backup node name, the OPC_NODENAME  in the ovconf,  not the correct server name”.

So could you please advice, how to proceed with this kind of situation.

I would highly appreciate those of you can help in this scenario.

Thanks

Re: OPC_NODE_NAME value changes automatically in ovconf file

OPC_NODE_NAME is internal and reset periodically.

I recommend be on latest patch level 11.14.

Next, you may set OPC_IP_ADDRESS with appropriate value, OPC_NODE_NAME gets set with the hostname resolved  by the ipaddress.

Re: OPC_NODE_NAME value changes automatically in ovconf file

Hi Experts,

We recently upgraded to 11.13 so i would not see any value there ( Need to understand what 11.14 agent can do in this situation )

Yes, I have already updated the correct OPC_IPADDRESS which has correct DNS resolution.

Please let me know how to proceed further.

Thanks,

Re: OPC_NODE_NAME value changes automatically in ovconf file

Hi Sree

This is fixed in 11.14

I recommened you upgrade to OA11.14 or

Install latest 11.13 hotfix

That would resolve the issue

Thanks

11.13 is broken in so many ways, step away from it.
