[Support Tip] opcmsg text includes ö ä ü character, message text gets scrambled

Problem:

opcmsg messages including ä ö ü display garbage character in JavaUI:

 

opcmsg a=a o=o msg_g=OpC sev=normal msg_t="test1666  ä test "

results in:

test1666  ⟴est

 

Node:

Message group: OpC

Application:   a

Object:        o

Severity:      Normal

Text:          test1666  ⟴est

 

 

 

Cause:

The root cause is unknown

 

Solution:

 

The following settings on the Management Server solve this issue for Unix/Linux:

 

[ctrl.env]

LANG=es_ES.utf8

OR

LANG=en_US.utf8

OR

Any other utf8 locale

 

[ctrl.env] ovrg server

LANG=es_ES.utf8

OR

LANG=en_US.utf8

OR

Any other utf8 locale

 

 

[eaagt]

OPC_FORMAT_OCTET_STR=FALSE

OPC_NODE_CHARSET=utf8

OPC_TRAP_CHARSET=utf8

Install 11.05/11.12 + OM patches 9.10.240 (consolidated + javagui)
