Test message against external node

Have defined an external node on OMW 8.1.
Node is vaacdp1g.ab.applera.net.

I tried to test a message againse the node with the opcmsg command, executed from the mgt server.
opcmsg s=minor a=a o=o msg_t=test
node=vaacdp1g.ab.applera.net

Message does not appear against the node nor the mgt server.

Should I be able to do this?

Re: Test message against external node

Try this:---

bash-3.00# ovdeploy -cmd " /opt/OV/bin/OpC/opcmsg severity=critical application=ash_test_critical object=testing_critical msg_grp=OS msg_text=Testing_flow_of_CRITICAL_ALERTS_TEST_by_ASHISH " -node anrlnx5.icd.teradyne.com

Re: Test message against external node

When I generate a message from the mgt server:
opcmsg a=SiteScope o=ooo msg_grp=grps
msg_text=testing s=critical node=vaacdp1g.ab.applera.net

no event appears in the message brower.

I enabled message delay detection and the MeasureLog.txt file shows that the message is discarded. Why is it discarded?

Measure: OvMessageFlow
Component: OvEpMessageFilter
Time Started: 2009-12-15 14:15:07.369
Node Name: vaacdp1g.ab.applera.net
Ip Addr: 172.26.2.103
Time Created: Dec 15 14:15:07
Time Received: Dec 15 14:15:07
OvEpMessage: Id="2811cc90-e9ae-71de-1e3a-0a0a87410000", Text="testing ..."
Proxied: yes
NodeResTime: 0
Discarded: yes
Time Finished: 2009-12-15 14:15:07.369

State: Finished normally

Re: Test message against external node

I set up the ExternalNode with the following:

Display Name: Virtual IP Addrs
Pattern: va<*>g.ab.applera.net
Check pattern agains: Node Name

The pattern tested fine when I defined it.

When I generate a message with node name that resolves both forward and reverse, the message is discarded.
Ex. vaacdp1g.ab.applera.net

When I generate a message with a node name that is not defined in DNS, the message appears in hte browser as expected.
Ex. vaacdp2g.ab.applera.net

Re: Test message against external node

Ken,

Curious, does properties\option tab of opcmsg have "SEND ALL UNMATCHED MESSAGES TO THE ACTIVE BROWSER" turn on?

Re: Test message against external node

Hello Ken,
have you used "Fully qualified domain name" or "Node Name" in the "Check pattern against" pattern. I assume "Node Name". With this only messages are accepted for nodes which do not resolve.
The external node pattern should work in case you use "Fully qualified domain name". Then messages are accepted for node name patterns which resolve

Hope this helps,
Harald

Re: Test message against external node

Harald,

Good suggestion but the message is still discarded. I tried the following patterns under FQDN.

va<*>g.ab.applera.net
<*>.ab.applera.net
