Upgraded OM agent 11.12 to 11.13 on management server OML9.10 now admin UI will not start up

Jump to solution

OML 9.10

OM agent 11.12

We upgraded the OM agent from version 11.12 to 11.13 on our OML9.10 management server.

The Admin UI will not start up. We get these error messages on the UI screen:

Vital services are not ready yet.

Services:
File Server User Model Server
License Server
Task Server
Lock Server
Local Backend Server
Execution Server
User Authentication Filter
OVO Service Server
Terminal Server
CODA Server

Thank you

Hi,

I finally resolved this problem. I found that the oracle database was mis-configured which was causing the Admi UI to fail.

After we fixed the oracle configuration issues we were able to stop and restart the adminui.

Thank you everyone for all of your help.

Hello Gino,

Did you stop all the OM Services before upgrade?

Hi,

I did not stop all of the OM services as I did not think that was necessary. The local OM agent services were stopped by the agent upgrade process.

Thanks,

1) Lots of old issues showing "Vital Services are not ready yet" can be caused as result of DB connection issue between adminUI and OMU server.

Have you changed anything in this regard?

# grep ovodb.url  /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/*.properties

2) Another problem could be caused if you tried to change "opc_adm" password for AdminUI.

Have you changed any of these?

-----------------

Attach your config files:

/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovoconfig.properties

You may find more information about the problem near the end of /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/logs/wrapper.log.

Hi Gino,

In case you wish to collect all relevant data for the adminUi, please run:

# /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui support

an output filec will be created: /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/support*zip

before, you may want to try the following sequence
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui stop
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui clean
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui start

That may help issues with the adminUI

Hi Vladislav,

Here is the data you requested.

>Have you changed anything in this regard?

Two things. I upgraded the local OM agent on the management server and I changed the admin UI password.

# grep ovodb.url  /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/*.properties
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/opccfg.properties:ovodb.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@lnmonu004.hphc.org:1521:openview.hphc.org
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovoappl.properties:ovodb.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@lnmonu004.hphc.org:1521:openview.hphc.org
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovoconfig.properties:ovodb.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@lnmonu004.hphc.org:1521:openview.hphc.org
/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovoinstall.properties:ovodb.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@lnmonu004.hphc.org:1521:openview.hphc.org

>2) Another problem could be caused if you tried to change "opc_adm" password for AdminUI.

Have you changed any of these?

Yes, I did change the password recently.

>Attach your config files:

/opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovoconfig.properties
I attached the file.

Thank you,

-Gino

Hi,

I ran an adminui stop, clean, start and I was able to startup the UI and log in to the Admin UI.

When I login it goes to the landing page (Home) which is fine.

However when I select OMU and then select an object  "All Nodes" or anything else it gets this same error message.

Communication Error(Debug)
Warning
cannot handle request
The following errors occurred while processing the request:

cannot handle requestSource:Backend State

cannot handle requestSource:Backend State

So now the Admin UI is up and running but it is not working.

Thank you,

-Gino

Hi Gino,

please Make sure you have the correct password for the user opc_op in adminUI

in case Opc_op password for adminUI can be updated with following steps:
# /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui password -u ovodb -a -p <password>

Whenever the opc_op password is changed and updated it is also necessary that this
password change is performed in Administration UI

Hi Max,

I ran the Admin UI password command and still get the same errors as before.

oot@lnmonu004 adminUI]# /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui password -u ovodb -a -p OpC_adm

Updating file ovoconfig.properties property ovodb.password for user ovodb
configuration has been updated
Updating file ovoappl.properties property ovodb.password for user ovodb
configuration has been updated
File /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovonode.properties not found
Updating file ovoinstall.properties property ovodb.password for user ovodb
configuration has been updated
Updating file opccfg.properties property ovodb.password for user ovodb
configuration has been updated
File /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/conf/ovomsg.properties not found
The server might need to be restarted in order for the password change to take effect

Thank you,

Hi Gino,

I think password for user opc_op should be used not opc_adm

After change please restart the application in the following way:
# /opt/OV/OMU/adminUI/adminui restart -clean
