opcmsg as non-root user

Jump to solution

Have noticed that a couple of our Linux systems are unable to run opcmsg as a non-root user.

Error:

[app1 opt]$ /opt/OV/bin/opcmsg s=warning a=a o=o msg_text=TEST
The OVO Message Command is not configured on this system.
Contact your OVO Administrator to configure it. (OpC30-913)

When I run opcmsg as root, no problem:

[root@app1 ~]# /opt/OV/bin/opcmsg s=warning a=a o=o msg_text=TEST

No error, message posts as expected

Problem appears to be on Linux RHEL6 systems running 11.14 version of agent.

Hello.

Most likely your user has no permission to read this directory:

/var/opt/OV/datafiles/policies/msgi

Use strace to see what happens:

strace -e trace=file /opt/OV/bin/opcmsg s=warning a=a o=o msg_text=TEST

Regards,
