lifecycle bordermanager

Hi,

Our management already took steps to replace the bordermanager servers
worldwide.
I heard rumours about Bordermanager being developed to linux. Is this true
and when will there be a press release?
If true, then why so late?

regards,
John

Does this help -
http://www.novell.com/products/bordermanager/announcement.html ?

I'll let Novell answer that.

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

Hi,

I think that information is not true anymore, because from what I heard from
Novell engineers is that Access Manager will not (and also not in the
future) provide what Bordermanager did. Therefore Bordermanager will be
migrated to bordermanager services running on the linux (sles) platform.
However an official anouncement was to be made on Brainshare, however that
event was skipped.
It would be nice to hear more about this, because customers are wondering
what to do.

So tell us, Novell.....

regards,
Marcel

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

I've been talking to the Product Mgt team and they are close to releasing more details on the directions for BorderManager.

Any news?

Both Novell BorderManager and Novell BorderManager (both linked from Novell BorderManager 3.9) still refer to Novell Access Manager when talking about Linux.

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

Since both links show up as 'Novell BorderManager' via the web-based forums I thought I'd better clarify that first link is 'Clear path to the future' and the second 'BorderManager Statement of Direction'.

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

Hi,

I'm checking again...I guess my statement of "close" wasn't too accurate!

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

Hi,

The teams are deep into this road map and it will still be some time before they're ready to finalize and announce the plans. The Product Mgr is Praveen and I'll post his email here for those needing urgent direction or who have ideas on what they need Novell to consider. gpraveen@novell.com.

Kind Regards,

-Todd

Re: lifecycle bordermanager

Well, according to "dclower", there is no Linux version in the works...

Moving NetWare Services to Linux | Novell User Communities

"BorderManager is a powerful edge service, but there are no plans to move that application to Linux. Although this is of immense interest to many customers, I'll defer discussion of that subject to a future post."

I know Praveen because of some of the other products he is Product Manager for and saw him at the Novell TTP EMEA conference last week where he did a session on BorderManager (amongst other sessions).

He (Novell) are looking for feedback on customer requirements, features, etc.

Whilst I'm under NDA I can say that the above comment is not strictly true. I have therefore forwarded that article on to Praveen G, the BorderManager PM.
