In the IT world, the newest and shiniest things often get the most attention and praise. But like wine, cheese, and the movie Casablanca, ZENworks just keep getting better the longer it’s around. First introduced in 1998, ZENworks (Zero Effort Networking) has now evolved into ZENworks 2017, a bona fide unified endpoint management (UEM) solution. “Here’s looking at you” ZENworks.

It may not taste as good as wine or cheese, but I’m still pleased to now announce the next step in the Micro Focus UEM journey: ZENworks 2017 Update 1. It improves security capabilities (e.g., encryption), introduces enterprise iOS management capabilities, and—ultimately—enables your organization’s digital workspace.

Manage Enterprise iOS Capabilities

Managing Apple devices just got easier with ZENworks Configuration Management 2017 Update 1. You can now pre-provision mobile device management profiles for DEP (Device Enrollment Program) devices, integrate with the iOS Configurator for non-DEP devices, use added Device Control settings to restrict Supervision-enabled devices, and preconfigure ZENworks-distributed managed apps.

Encrypt Modern Windows Hardware

Courtesy of ZENworks Full Disk Encryption 2017, you can implement FDE on newer Windows devices that use UEFI-based firmware and GPT-based disks. And with improved auditing, you can even prove that lost or stolen devices were encrypted.

Support Your Next-Generation Network

Enable users to experience more seamless access to corporate information via Microsoft DirectAccess capabilities. It also allows your managed devices to access servers over IPv6, helping you move into the future of IP with confidence.

Find Rogue Software Installs

Keep IT out of the shadows with ZENworks Configuration Management 2017 Update 1. You can now quickly identify rogue application instances that users have installed on your PCs outside of ZENworks. Once you identify these apps, you can prevent them from putting your organization at risk.

Access the Patch Management Dashboard from Anywhere

With ransomware attacks like WannaCry, managing your patches is more important than ever. To help you out, ZENworks Patch Management 2017 Update 1 allows you to access the dashboard anywhere, without cumbersome plug-ins. View patch-status snapshots from any modern browser on both traditional and mobile devices. Update 1 also prevents vendor-superseded patches from being automatically disabled in the system.

Provide New Options for Users

Update 1 refines the already clean and modern ZENworks User Application (ZAPP). Users can now pin ZENworks-delivered items to their Start Menu, Taskbar, and Desktop. They can also now enjoy keyboard navigation.

Track System Updates for All Servers in the Zone

The Update Status page now provides a single dashboard-style view of the server updates in your environment. Important usability improvements make it easier to search for devices that are being updated and allow you to identify how a device got an update assigned.

Leverage PostgreSQL for the Zone Database

ZENworks 2017 Update 1 allows you to use PostgreSQL as your ZENworks and Audit databases. It also provides tools for migrating your Sybase database to PostgreSQL.

Hi Lehner,
Find Rogue sw (any sw installed by user, not ZENworks), is done by the "license tracking" feature in '17Up1. Check out the docs:
