QTP Tip: QTP 11 hotfix: QTPNET_00170 - Prevent Failures on Large Test Sets

Hello everyone,


There is a new hotfix (private patch provided through support only) for QTP 11:


QTPNET_00170 - Prevent Failures That Occur Sometimes on Large Test Sets


This hotfix fixes a problem in which large test sets sometimes failed with errors like this:


* ‘IG: [Select] : Failed to connect to an IPC port: The system cannot find the file specified’

* ‘IG: [Select] : Port is Busy.All pipe instances are busy


Note: After installing this hotfix, you must also register a new registry key.



System Requirements


QuickTest Professional 11.00 with the .NET add-in loaded and installed and the QTPNET_00159 hotfix is installed.



Hotfix Installation


1. Ensure that you have administrative permissions on the QuickTest computer.

2. Double-click the self-extracting executable file and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Double-click the new reg\RemotingViaTCP.reg file to enable the fix.

To disable the fix, double-click the new reg\RemotingViaIPC.reg file


This hotfix can be requested through a support ticket with HP Software Support, as this is a private hotfix with no external link.

I am receiving the 'Failed to connect to an IPC port' error on UFT 11.53 patch 1.  Does this hotfix apply to UFT or just QTP 11?
