[QTP/(U)FT Support Tip] Installer reports that the file "qt_exec.cfg" is missing.

Hello all,

How are you? I hope you are fine 🙂

A lot of people have experienced the issue, that the installer of QTP/(U)FT complains about the missing file "qt_exec.cfg". The question is, why this happens and how it can be fixed.

1. The cause

The file "qt_exec.cfg" is a 0 byte file. Some UnZip software can not cope with this kind of files and will ignore them during the extraction. This means that this will will not be saved in the location specified.

2. The solution

As the download is provided as an ISO file, it is recommended to be burned onto a DVD. This way you have an existing physical media as well as the file burned.

Alternatively you can use WinRAR, which is known to ignore the size of a file and will continue extracting it despite the 0 byte size.
