What is the Maximum no of columns supported by a Datatable

Jump to solution

Hi,

We have quite a data intensive appliaction and would like to know the maximum number of columns supported by a Datatable. I see that .xls supports 255 columns and .xlsx  supports more but is it possible to use .xlsx as QTP datatables

Hello Amit,

You are right regarding the columns capacity between .xls and xlsx files.

QTP versions 11 and below support only .xls formats to import in datatable and of course the limit of datatable is 256 columns.

New version of QTP which is UFT 11.5 supports .xlsx files to be imported in the datatable, however is important to consider that the datatable object used in QTP/UFT is different than the object used in Excel, because of that the limitations are different and even that .xlsx file can manage more than 256 columns the UFT datatable manage a maximum of 256 columns like QTP 11.
