What do you want exaktly?
You can import excel file by code in your qtp script.

I am writing script for accessing the xls file using the following script...

Set expa=exet.Workbooks.Open("[QualityCenter] ;;Subject\IT Channel;;\Book1.xls")

script is throwing error that path is not defined kind of...

Re: how to get excel file in qtp which is stored in qc

I think your path is wrong.
Try something like this:
"[QualityCenter] Subject\tests\test1"

But it is easier to downloading the excel file (or import it) to your loacal maschine, inserting what you want and uploading it back.
An other way is to set your excel table (in QC) as your action table. In QTP under File --> Settings --> Resources --> select as "Other location" your excel file in QC

Re: how to get excel file in qtp which is stored in qc

I have a file under the Resources and the file name is "test.xls"

I tried the following options and was unable to get it.

1. DataTable.Import "[QualityCenter] Resources\test.xls"

2.  Try to add this file through settings>resources>other location> unfortunately i cannot see the file through the Browse window as well.

Please help

Re: how to get excel file in qtp which is stored in qc

For future reference, QTP questions should be posted on the forum specifically for QTP -

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Unified-Functional-Testing/bd-p/sws-Fun_TEST_SF

What version of QTP and QC are you using?

Do you actually want to use the Excel data in QC as the data table for your QTP test?

1.  In QTP v11 the proper syntax for DataTable.ImportSheet is

DataTable.ImportSheet(FileName, SheetSource, SheetDest)

(You can find that information in QTP help.)

In QTP v11 the proper syntax for specifying a FileName for a resource in QC is

[QualityCenter\Resources] Resources\<any other subfolders>\<ResourceName>

The ResourceName does not need to include the .xls extension.

2. In order to see resources in the browser you must

  a. Connect from the QTP application to the QC system

  b. Select QC Test Resources rather than File System in the "Open Data Table" dialog.
