Excel format for UFT 12.52

We upgraded QTP from 12 to 12.52.  All of our Excel datasheets were .xls format (Excel 2007 or 2003). But started to see problem when used operation such as DataTable.AddParameter comman. It started to show rowcount very large number. Should we be using only .xlsx format?

Hi AdnanJ,

Hope you are doing well.

By analyzing Table control/pane:

It visually looks like a Microsoft Excel's Workbook (group of sheets)

File extension used is XLS (*), just as Microsoft Excel's

GUI DataTable feature is a third-party component. For more information, see Document ID KM781683 - Is the GUI DataTable control based on Microsoft Excel?

File extensions supported by GUI DataTable:

excel data xls.PNG

Hope you will find well this information.

This is a known issue related to formatting in Excel.

You can remove the formatting in the excel file. Check this post. Fix Format issues

Alternately you can use a .xlsx file instead of .xls.
