How to deal with mass-changes in Business Components?

We have a big project using lots of (scripted) business components. They are intensively using libraries to help us maintain changes centrally. Also we used a standardized structure in the components to keep everything not placed in the libs clear and simple.

But: what to do if we have to change a lot of the BC-scripts in the same way? Is there a possibility to export all those scripts from ALM, make the mass-changes and re-import afterwards?

Any ideas?

Kind regard,

  Jens

Re: How to deal with mass-changes in Business Components?

Hi Jens,

Hope you are doing well.

BC may not be exported, I was reviewing this with some engineers but could you please let us know what do you mean with "make mass-changes and re-import afterwards"

Automation Object Model (AOM) allow user to perform minimal changes or setting changes if the changes are related with UFT.

If it were needed to change QTP/UFT's settings using AOM statements, create a .VBS file to launch QTP/UFT and execute the test scripts.

If  changes are from ALM side OTA may help.

How to check if Open Test Architecture (OTA) classes are installed:

What are all the Actions that can be used in the CustomizationActions (OTA API):

Hope you will find well this information.

Re: How to deal with mass-changes in Business Components?

Hi Ruddy,

We need to change the vbs-script of many components. This would be much easier if it is possible to store all the script-TEXT into files on disk and use some editing tool doing the textual changes.

Opening each of hundreds of components inside UFT, making two or three text-changes, saving / closing the BC is a very, very time-consuming and exhausting process. We are technicians and like automation for those tasks….

Kind regard,
